The summit

The Space Summit brought local and international speakers to Dar es Salaam for three days of talks and discussion, most of them meeting each other's work in person for the first time. Organizing it took real effort — thanks to Gitika Gorthi and Jessica Mshama for putting it together and opening the door to this kind of event happening in Tanzania at all.

Leonard's talk

One of the sessions was Leonard Shayo, OLSPACE's founder, walking through how he got here: building a radio station at 12 in Marangu, at the foot of Kilimanjaro, then working from broadcast engineering into satellite systems. He also outlined what OLSPACE is actually working on — satellite design, launches, and getting that work into classrooms.
